This is a terrific little cafe across from the King's Parade entrance to Kings College. The storefront is attractive and in a perfect spot for the tourist crowd. The staff are very polite and friendly and are also rather efficient. They serve crepes and coffee as well as ice cream.
I was there for lunch and decided to try a crepe. I built my own (which may have been the only option as far as crepes were concerned) using chorizo, goat cheese and onions. The chorizo had the expected kick while the goat cheese offset it nicely. The grilled onions added a slightly sweet taste which made for an enjoyable combination. It was excellent and turned out to be just the right portion for lunch.
The vintage dining room was pleasant though rather limited in capacity. There was an upstairs seating area as well but, from what I saw, it can get a bit crowded on a weekend. It was not cheap but I would not expect it to be given its location. In my opinion, it was an acceptable value nonetheless as my crepe was a worthwhile £7.95. I had an Americano coffee to finish which was also nicely done. My total bill with a bottle of sparkling water to drink was £13.40. Overall, I would say that this establishment makes a great lunch stop while roaming around Cambridge. -

I had an oreo milkshake which was pretty good and it was 4.85£. The smoothies are about the same price also and have an intense flavour but they have a more watery rather than thick texture.

Benet's is not that great, I am sorry to say. I wanted it to be great, but the ice cream and crêpes are way over priced. It's cool how they allow you to choose what you want in the crepe, but the crepe batter itself is nothing special. In fact it can be a little crispy and dry at the edges.
The ice cream is offered in a wide variety of flavors, some of which are quite original! But the servers tend to get mad if you ask to sample "too many" flavors, which I think is just not that classy.
All in all, Benet's is a tourist trap. You're better off going. Somewhere else if you live here, or even trying further down the street if you're a visitor. -

We have had food here twice! The first time we enjoyed sweet crepes and the second their savory crepes. The food was delicious and better than most of the food we have had in England. We liked sitting upstairs and looking down on the street. We will be going back later for their homemade ice cream!!
Give it a try! -

Don't waste your time with this place. Way overpriced, and very rude and slow service. A man rudely told me to put a Chelsea bun away I had taken out of my bag to eat, when there was clearly no sign to not bring in your own food, and proceeded to tell me how inappropriate my behavior was even before I had received my tea, which took 10 minutes by the way. Rude and snobby, don't waste your time, your money, or your precious time in Cambridge.
